Untamed, Unexplored, Unforgettable
The North East of India is the country's best-kept secret — a region of extraordinary biodiversity, ancient tribal cultures, living root bridges, and landscapes that seem to belong to another world. The Seven Sisters Wilderness Trail takes you through three of the most captivating states: Meghalaya (the "Abode of Clouds"), Assam (land of tea and one-horned rhinos), and Sikkim (the Himalayan kingdom). This 7-day journey is for the curious traveller who seeks authenticity over luxury, and wonder over comfort.
Arrive at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati — the gateway to North East India. Transfer to your hotel. Guwahati, situated on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River, is the largest city in the region and a melting pot of cultures. In the afternoon, visit the Kamakhya Temple — one of the most important Shakti Peethas in India — perched atop the Nilachal Hill with panoramic views of the Brahmaputra. Take a sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River, watching the golden light play on the world's widest river. Dinner at a restaurant serving authentic Assamese cuisine — try the masor tenga (sour fish curry) and pitha (rice cakes).
October to April for clear skies and wildlife viewing. March–April for rhododendron blooms in Sikkim. Avoid June–September (heavy monsoon, landslides, and park closures).
